The Construction History Society kindly invited us to have a stand at their First Conference at Queens' College, Cambridge on 11 and 12 April 2014.

Perhaps sometimes as we extol the quality of historic tools and their manufacture, it’s rather easy to overlook the trades in which they were used.

A very successful meeting of the Wessex Local Group was held on Sunday 19 January at Winsley, near Bath.

The 2013 Annual Conference was held in the Taunton area from Friday 12 to Sunday 14 April.

The programme included visits to The Willow & Wetlands Centre, Stoke St. Gregory; Somerset County Museum, Taunton and its reserve collection and Bishops Lydeard Mill.

Our inaugural meeting was held at Needham Market and attended by eighteen members and two prospectives.

On a warm evening at the beginning of August fourteen members and one guest found their way to Richard Arnold’s workshop in Northamptonshire.

One piece of work in hand was the making of parts for a hand-rail in European oak for a geometrical stair passing through several floors of prestigious London shop.
